The latest news in the anime world is the announcement of a new cast member for the television anime adaptation of Otsuji's manga, My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren't Wicked. Yō Taichi joins the cast as Riru Kazan, Miya's classmate, and will appear in the anime's fifth episode. The anime debuted on July 8 at 11:30 p.m. on several Japanese TV channels and started streaming on various platforms, including U-NEXT and REMOW's 'It's Anime' YouTube channel. The show features a talented cast, including Hina Suzuki as Miya Nakamura, Kujira as Teru Kōnokura, and many others. The anime is directed by Keisuke Inoue, with Nanami Hoshino handling series scripts and Mutsumi Sasaki designing characters and serving as the chief animation director. Lia performs the opening theme song, and AVAM performs the ending theme song. Seven Seas publishes the manga in English, offering a comedic reimagining of the classic Cinderella story. The manga launched in November 2020 and will release its 10th compiled book volume on August 25, with the eighth volume already available in English.
